Faye and Matt are the amazing couple that won the Love of a Lifetime wedding at the incredible Independence Seaport Museum on May 23rd. Eclatante Event Design is planning the whole event.

Here is your opportunity to vote for the floral creations designed by Beautiful Blooms for the dinner table centerpieces.

Here’s how it goes. Each element of the wedding will be voted on by the public on the website hosted by Philly.com. So far, the perfect menu and food service from Culinary Concepts has been chosen.

Also, the invitations designed by Two Paper Dolls have been voted on but now it is time for the flowers! Of course our favorite part.

Design One is a organic design (ORGANIC CHIC) of hydrangea, protea, frogs eye euphorbia, stock, hypericum berries and curly willow. I just love how the colors compliment each other in the shades of apple green, purply blue and yellow.

Design Two (FISHBOWL FASHION) has a more modern feel and has been created in a large fishbowl. This arrangement is a combination of plum calla, yellow protea placed on a base of green split peas.

Thanks so much to Kevin York the LOL photographer for these amazing photos.

Our September Color Story offers an escape into a world of the rich and vibrant colors of deep purple and yellow in a magnificent and elegant setting. We love the energy of this stunning story!

This month’s fantasy party takes place at the Elkins Estate on the terrace of this amazing grand mansion. Photographer Marie Labbancz once again showcases her creative genius by capturing these breathtaking images and shots!

As you can see, our unique table design works wonderfully in conjunction with this venue as the simple outside exterior brings focus to the fascinating, customized and complex centerpiece.

We absolutely love this two-tiered plexi-glass centerpiece structure created byBeautiful Blooms with hanging yellow calla lilies and a floral arrangement comprised of bunches of deep purple hydrangea, yellow calla lilies and yellow eremerus on top.

The lower tier of this amazing composition contains a tasteful mixture of purple votives and yellow roses. We chose the linens and place settings in perfect compliment to the mood set by this gorgeous table.

Our table was also decorated with just the right amount of tall yellow vases and small yellow bud vases – all from Eclatante’s Boutique!

Look at the way the light bounces off the yellow colored glass vases and clear glassware creating a modern celebratory feel!

To complement our table design, our bride carried a hand tied bouquet Beautiful Blooms created from deep purple hydrangea, yellow spray roses and bupleurum.

Finally, what can we say about the Pronovias gown provided by Jennifer’s Bridalin Wilmington, Delaware that our beautiful model Paula is wearing – just perfect and absolutely stunning!

Claudia Seyler of Claudia Seyler Hair and Makeup did the styling, hair and makeup for our bride capturing the essence of her beauty with a gorgeous full bun and natural makeup.

Written by Kendall Brown of Eclatante Event Design.

The venue for this month’s fantasy party was the elegant Elkins Estate, an amazing grand mansion just a few minutes outside of Philadelphia sitting on 42 acres of graceful rolling hills among beautiful ponds and a tranquil retreat center. Our friend and photographer Marie Labbancz worked her magic once again behind the camera to bring you these amazing and stunning shots!

One of the most unusual things about Elkins is the fact that you can actually host hundreds of people for a sit-down dinner within the estate itself – a true rarity among the stunning Pennsylvania estates that serve as venues for the areas most beautiful celebrations!

The foundation for this elaborate table design is a wrought iron structure with soft colorful fabric creating soft puddling and hanging birdcages. We’ve been thinking lately that creating a smaller romantic setting for two within the wedding reception would be perfect for a couple’s first dinner together on the evening of their wedding. And the Elkins Estate was, as you can see, the perfect place to implement this vision!

Rian of Eventions was the master behind the lighting and draping that brought out the magic of the entire design!

We absolutely love the floral arrangement by Beautiful Blooms created out of a birdcage with a beaded dragon fly accent (from the personal collection of Donna from Beautiful Blooms) and filled with lush Alaskan pink peonies, early season virburnum berry, yellow roses and butterfly asclepius.

Our couple’s table was decorated with a painted martini glass from Anthropologie, Michael Weems’ green etched wine glasses, vintage plates and Anthropologie bowls.

Notice the charming monogrammed votive candle from Eclatante’s Boutique placed at the couple’s placesettings.

And how absolutely fabulous is the bridal gown by designer Kenneth Pool, thanks toJennifer’s Bridal in Wilmington, Delaware! Our gorgeous model, Paula, was styled beautifully by Claudia Seyler of Claudia Seyler Hair and Makeup. Claudia also provided the exquisite jewelry including this perfectly suited dangling drop bracelet and headband.

As you can see, Claudia is a pure genius at what she does! She also did a beautiful job of creating the perfect soft, flowing hairstyle and subtle makeup as the perfect look for this month’s story creation.

Our bride carried a beautiful hand tied bouquet of Alaskan pink peonies and early season virburnum berry expertly created by, of course, Beautiful Blooms!

Last night it was announced that Beautiful Blooms Design “Global Terrain” won the Award of Excellence by the Philadelphia Flower Show. We were so thrilled and the visitors to the show LOVED the display.

We noted all the words that were used today by the guests to describe our design and here’s what we heard….Wow!, So Innovative, Incredible, Very Impressive, Beautiful, Amazing, Very Clever, Really Something, Interesting, Fantastic, Very Lovely, My Favorite Display Here, Gorgeous, It Looks Like Rain Above The Vases, That’s So Awesome and the list goes on. It was really fun to talk to people and explain all of the logistics, construction and flower details. So many guests took our postcards that I had to order more already and it is only day one!

In Part One I listed everything leading up to the actual installation of our design so here I’m going to continue with what happened starting with the first day of load in.

DAY ONE
Thursday, February 25th was the first day of the Philadelphia International Flower Show set up for Beautiful Blooms. As we walked in the doors, we were thrilled to see that our steel structure was hung and we were ready to go.

The first task at hand was to begin wiring the entire structure to mark where each vase would go.

Maggie and Amanda are ready with wire and are passing the precut pieces to Maya and Justin who are all up on the ladders wiring the sections where vases will be placed. All of the wire had been precut prior to arrival but still needed a bit of untangling.

John began dunking the vases in the water which had already been dyed and then Monika and I began cutting the appropriate flower in the coordinating colored water. We had over 500 of these so we got started early in the day and got a routine in place.

More untangling and cutting of wire. There was a lot of wire!

We had the buckets of flowers all lined up next to the buckets of water that went with each color. We had to be very very organized which is no different from the way we handle our events.

As the vases were filled with water and dye and then we put all of the same ones together on the cart to keep them organized neatly.

It may not look organized but I promise you it was!

John and Amanda work as a team to continue to get more wire up into the steel structure that has been raised 10 feet above the ground.

More vases are completed and placed on tables and carts.

Blue=Ocean (all three shades as water is deeper in certain areas)

Khaki/Ivory=Sand/Beach/Dunes

Light Green=Grass

Darker Green=Trees

Grey=Rock

White=Snow

Just to remind you our design is a topographic map so when you see the finished product this will all make sense.

Finally all of the wire is coming together. This takes a whole day to complete and everyone’s fingers are numb because it is freezing inside the Philadelphia Convention Center. We are as bundled up as possible to keep warm but we still need to be able to move.

I think the cold is starting to get to Amanda! Actually she is keeping up everyone’s spirits.

The wire is looking good! Each piece of this on Friday had to be pulled down straight and a small hook had to be tied on at just the right height. Quite the project.

Maya’s turn to get a little punchy now but hey she’s been wiring all day so I totally understand . I would be punchy too.

As Day One comes to a close Maya adds a few vases to the structure to show me how amazing it is going to look. I love it!

DAY TWO

Friday, February 26 arrives and we know we need to spend the whole day hanging all of the vases and creating the design. Today is the last day of the set up and we have quite a bit to accomplish.

The Ocean sections are being placed and we used thistle, delphinium and trachileum to create this area.

Now the sand section is being created from carnations and roses.

During the day, Jake keeps us organized and runs items back to the studio that we no longer need. We want to keep our space organized and figure it is better to clean up as we go. He also delivers flower arrangements from the Beautiful Blooms Boutique to happy customers.

We want to make sure all of the vases are full of water as we know our flowers will surely drink up a lot of water each day.

The Dunes get added with varregated bear grass and so does the Grass area gets started with Prada carnations. I love the way the vases reflect on our floor and create this unique dotted pattern.

I wanted to see what it looked like from below looking up into the vases. Very Cool. I also was cleaning the floor as I went to make sure every spec of dirt and all flower petals were removed.

The grass section is almost completed and fuji mums, hypericum berries and dianthus have all be added to this area. Then the Tree area gets added from Ruskus, pittosporum and boxwood. The final Snow section is created from carnations, babies breath and statice.

GLOBAL TERRAIN COMPLETED. We got done at 9:30pm and we were beat!
Tom happened to be over at Bill’s exhibit taking some photos so I asked him if he would take a few for us. Thanks so much Tom!

II am so thrilled with how the whole team pulled together to create our design for the 2010 Philadelphia International Flower Show. Team work is what it is all about and Beautiful Blooms has an amazing talented team. We are here to create amazing decor for any event or to put a smile on a friend’s face when we deliver a beautiful arrangement. Keep us in mind for all of your Floral and Decor needs.

This year is Beautiful Blooms, LLC’s second year participating in the Philadelphia International Flower Show. Last year our exhibit “Sunrise” won Philadelphia Flower Show’s “Award of Excellence” and also an Honor from the Society of American Florists for “Artistic Presentation of Flowers and Plants for Public Enjoyment at the Philadelphia Flower Show”. Shown below is a photo of last year’s display.

Global Terrain is the title of our Exhibit this year and it was designed around Maya’s conceptual idea and inspiration of a topographical map. I fell in love with the idea when Maya presented it to me. After we had the initial design in place the whole Beautiful Blooms team got involved in development, flower selection and execution. We take a team approach to our business on a daily basis and the Flower Show was no different. Beautiful Bloom has a select group of very talented people in house and everyone has something to bring to the table and it shows in our design.

The first piece of the design that had to be worked out was whether to create a standing structure or a suspended structure. We had to weigh the different cost options. Either we built the piece to stand alone and have the union put it together or we hang the piece and incur even more costs of union labor for the longer amount of time for the installation. In the end we went with visually what we felt worked best and that was a 400lb steel structure created by our good friend Chris Kaienenberg at Wish Painting and Sculpture. The structure has 10 rigging points from the ceiling and is suspended 10 feet above the ground.

After we choose the structure we then had to decide how many vases to hang from it to create “Global Terrain.” Maya created a colored grid to show how the color changes would occur and go from water to sand to dunes to grass to trees to rock to snow. The grid gave us a good idea of how many vases and flowers per area were needed to execute the design. and how much wire we would need to actually execute our idea.

This vase was the main supply for our exhibit and we used over 543 of them to create the topography design. These vases are currently available at the Beautiful Blooms Boutique

In addition to the quantity of items needed we had to figure out the spacing per vase on the structure no vases knocked into each other with the slightest bit of wind. In addition, we figured there would be about 547 vases that needed to be hung and each vase filled with water and flowers would weigh approximately 1-1 1/2lbs. With this in mind, we had to make sure that when the structure was hung it could support all of the weight (over 1,000lbs) hence the 10 points for rigging. Each vase was hung from wire and an s-hook to hold each vase. We’d like to send out a special thank you to our friend Ben down at Metro Hardware (624 North Front Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123-3102 (215) 238-0600.) Not only did he get over 500 one inch “S” hooks and 5,000 feet of braided wire just for us but he was super nice, helpful and patient! Thanks Ben!

This vase was the main non-floral supply used for our exhibit and approximately 500 of them were used to create the topography design. These vases are currently available for sale at the Beautiful Blooms Boutique.

Wednesday before the flower show the flowers began to come in from our suppliers. Everything had to be checked in for quality and color to make sure we had all of the items that were ordered for our exhibit.

Look at these gorgeous flowers that came in for the show. Wait until you see what we did with them.

Jason is cutting all of the wire for the over 500+ vases that are to be hung. We had to make sure we had just the right wire to hold the weight of the vases, water and flowers. All of the colored water for the vases was dyed prior to us heading over to the show. We had predetermined all of the water colors in advance to make sure they worked beautifully together in the display and worked with the flower colors.

Here’s Amanda, Maya, Justin and Jake starting the wire of the steel structure prior to us moving it to the Philadelphia Convention Center. Look at the sun we had created in plexi for last year is shown in the photo too.

Stay Tuned for the next images of the actual construction of the piece.

B Wedding Magazine in Ireland…yes B Wedding Magazine- Ireland featured this amazing event in their latest issue. How exciting that Europe can get to know Eclatante Event Design, Marie Labbancz Photography and Beautiful Blooms. We are thrilled to pieces to be a part of this magazine’s feature. Go TEAM!

When Kendall Brown of Eclatante asked us to design floral centerpieces for her May client we were really excited. Kendall and her team have amazing style and it shows in every event they are involved in. We sat down several times as a team and created design after design so that each table represented one glamorous city! Thank you Eclatante Event Design for including us in this one. It was truly spectacular!

Kendall brought on Marie Labbancz for this event knowing that she would capture every last detail and boy did she.

Milan had to be all about Fashion so we created this huge floral shoe filled with the most beautiful pink peonies. If any of you have seen Kendall’s wedding you know that we also created some fabulous shoe designs for her big day.

I lived in NYC for many years and was so thankful that Central Park was located near my apt. I felt that this table had to be created around a park. Although I tend to feel that it is tire to retire wheatgrass from floral designs, I felt for this table it really worked.

Ahhh Paris…of course what first comes to mind is the Eiffel Tower so we had to include this in our design. Once the lights went down the Tower lit up and I loved how it looked.

Hong Kong was a combination of chinoiserie vases and tea pots with tight bundles of roses and ranunculus. This country also has a special place in my heart because before I started Beautiful Blooms I used to travel to Hong Kong to create apparel designs for the Fashion Industry.

I spent 6 years of my early childhood growing up in London so I was really excited for this table. We wanted to create a garden feel in this white washed antique urn. I had this piece for many years and it nicely complimented these delicate tea cups filled with flowers.

India had to be unique and play on all the Sari colors. I love this design and it’s unique container. I wish more of these containers had been available but I only found two in a vintage store.

Dublin was fun because we used Harp and Bass beer glasses and filled them with peonies and ranunculus. The main focal point of the table was the wood box filled with green shamrocks. I think Bride’s Ireland Magazine really enjoyed this table.

Tokyo had cylinder vases with paper “Kimono” wraps filled with cherry blossom, ranunculus, tulips and roses.

This event really combined talents between Eclatante and Beautiful Blooms in its design and its one of my favorite events ever.

I was going through some of my old emails today and came across this photo of an arrangement we created for Philadelphia Weddings Magazine. Brett of Old City Studio took this fabulous photo. I realized I had not shown it in a blog post and felt it deserved to be showcased as it is quite unique design.

These birch envelopes are available at the Beautiful Blooms Boutique and can be used in several different ways. Here we have used one sitting in a bed of dried split peas with an artistic display of allium along with one of my favorites, the fiddlehead. We’ve also combined a mix of purple hydrangea, orange calla lilies, orange roses, purple lisianthus, green virburnum and green hanging amaryanthus for a fun play on color. The unique color combination can work for any season and any tablecloth. It put a smile on my face today and I hope it does the same for you.

Spring might be around the corner?

This year we are creating more of an art installation titled “GLOBAL TERRAIN” which will be made up of over 500 hanging vases and a lot of colored water.

I’ll feature photos of our progress once we get onto the Convention Floor. Come see us at our Exhibit and learn all about Beautiful Blooms-The Design Studio and Beautiful Blooms Boutique-The Retail Division.

Even though there is still snow on the ground all around us here in Philadelphia, the Beautiful Blooms Boutique looks and feels like Spring. Stop by and check out all of the new wonderful product we’ve just received. Thank you Heather Fowler for stopping by last week and taking these photos and the shots of our Flower Show window displays.

The Beautiful Blooms Boutique is ready to serve all of your floral and gift needs! We’ve got unique and chic vases, containers, custom candles, soaps and so much more!

I love these wire hanging lamps that the Boutique is selling in three sizes. Pick one up and light up your life and home with its metal wire construction and unique shape. The silhouette of the bird adds a whimsical detail.

Our cooler is always stocked with a unique mix of flowers to add beauty to your home! I love the sweet peas in soft lavender which have the sweetest spring scent. Stop by and pick some up or send a friend, co-worker or client an arrangement which we will happily deliver.

This green section in our store highlights some wonderful branches such as birch, pussy willow and flowering quince, succulents, basil to grown packets and so much more. You have to come in and see everything in person.

We love our succulents at the Boutique and we offer them in a variety of different sizes. Above we have shown our succulent shots but we also offer wonderfully large succulents in square containers which are perfect for any home or office.

Birch envelopes (shown on the top shelf) can be used in any space at home to highlight single flower stems. Pop a water tube inside of each fold and voila you have a water source.

Penny Rakov is an incredible glass blower and we carry several of her hand blown pieces in the boutique. Each one is handblown and a work of art. What an incredible keepsake gift to keep for yourself and treasure of give as a gift. You have to seem them in person to truly appreciate the murini effect.

Beautiful Blooms Boutique carries a variety of scented sachets to be placed in your drawers, kept on your bed or even placed across your eyes to help you relax. The calming scent is something we can all use in today’s busy world.
