Hello everybody! Welcome to my first Beautiful Blooms blog. Today’s post is focused on a Hollywood themed Bat Mitzvah we did this past spring. You might recognize it from the great video clip we posted from DVideography last week. To achieve a glamorous Hollywood feel we decided to incorporated clear acrylic with rich jewel tones and elements such as rhinestones and velvet. Here is the story board we presented to the client at the beginning of the design process.

Since we knew this event was going to be fabulous with a capital “F” it was clear we would have to bring in some amazing props. It’s always good to build from the ground up so we started with the tables. A clear acrylic table seemed the obvious choice but we wanted them to read as fabulous rather than space-age. The answer? A velvet-tufted pedestal holding a clear acrylic topper! Here’s our initial sketch:

Once our ideas for the table were in place we moved on to the top of the table. In keeping with the feel of the table we came up an acrylic platform that would go on the center of the table. This was great because in addition to being fantastically stylish it created two different spaces for us to place flowers AND guests could see each other across the table. Since the pedestal was square we decided to make the tables square too. Here’s some shots of the pedestals being worked on in the studio:

Here’s some shots of the finished product. So cool! I’m so glad we switched the tables from round to square. The square table is so hip and unexpected!
