Wedding Wednesday: Singing in the Rain

Happy Wedding Wednesday, Internet friends! As promised, today we’re talking all about the dreaded Plan B. Often our brides hope, pray, and make small sacrifices to the god of their choice in an effort to ensure they get that cloudless sunshine-soaked day they’ve always dreamed of.  But here’s the thing, sometimes, especially in our neck of the woods, the weather is unpredictable.  No matter what time of year it is, it could rain and sometimes that leads to unhappy brides, which breaks my heart!

Well I just can’t stand an unhappy bride so I’m writing this blog post.  If you’re currently in the process of planning your wedding, I have some important words of advice for you: if it rains on your wedding day embrace it!  There’s no reason you shouldn’t be just as happy with a gray-sky day as a blue one and here’s why:

1. An overcast day creates perfect light conditions for photography!  There are no harsh shadows and it makes everyone look absolutely gorgeous.

2. Gray makes a great backdrop! Things like thunderclouds provide dynamic and interesting photo opportunities that you couldn’t ask for or plan on.  Check Lorraine Daley’s amazing portrait of Aliza and Josh below — how freaking incredible is that sky?? You don’t get pictures like that on a sunny day!

3.There’s nothing cozier than a candle-lit dinner while the wind howls outside.  A candle-lit dinner with all your nearest and dearest? Even better!

3. It gives you a chance to use fun rainy day accessories such as fabulous Wellies, umbrellas and raincoats.  Come on now, who doesn’t love a fab pair of Wellies??

And there you have it folks… all the reason you need to love your wedding day weather no matter what.  And if that’s not enough for you, here’s a whole collection of fabulous rainy wedding day inspiration pictures. Enjoy!
