Memories….of the Outer Banks

One of my favorite places to visit when I have a few days off is the Outer Banks.  I literally push TJ out the door and he and I hop in the car at 4:30am. I love driving over the bridge onto the island as all the stress just fades away as the cool breeze hits my face and I start to inhale the ocean air. We typically arrive at my family’s home by 10:30am, just in time to head out for a walk with my Aunt and Uncle.  They have lived on the island for over 6 years now so I’ve visited many many times and had a chance to see quite a few areas.

I love heading into Manteo and walking around this historic area and ending up at Poor Richards for lunch. You can sit and enjoy your meal overlooking the water and  the boats that are docked. Ahhhhh the stress just melts away.

This past April, I headed down to the Outer Banks with a great friend to celebrate their birthday and my Aunt and Uncle’s anniversary! It was an amazing weekend which included a very special dinner at The Tranquil House Inn. The restaurant at the Inn faces the water for a spectacular view. I was thankful we were safely seated inside as halfway through dinner lighting started crashing around us. Being seated right at the window allowed all of us to enjoy the wild light storm.

During our visit we also headed down to Hatteras where we caught the ferry to the quaint island of Ocracoke. We took our car onto the island and we able to explore the shops, attractions and restaurants for a few hours. We even spent a little bit of time walking the beach with the dogs which was so relaxing.  I can’t wait to go back to this special place and see more of it since this was a quick visit.

The memories I have from this vacation will always be with me as it was just one of those incredible trips.  As you can tell I was really chill on this trip because when encouraged me to lay in the sand and make a sand angel, I did just that! Some times we just have to relax and smell the ocean.

I hope all of you get a chance to visit the Outer Banks soon and make your own memories. It really is a wonderful spot to visit all year round.
