There are so many important aspects of a great event. The décor, guest list, music and, the star of today’s blog, the food all play an important role in making the absolute best party possible. Although everyone may not eat themselves into a Thanksgiving-style stupor at EVERY event, the food options contribute to the overall look, feel, and experience of any party! Here at Beautiful Blooms Events, we always like to be in the know about all things event-related, so we turned to one of our favorites, STARR Restaurant & Events, to see what food trends are dominating the scene right now. Morgan Bedore clued us into some of the trends they’re seeing right now! Here’s what she had to say:
1. Home-style desserts in the summer. We are creating custom ice cream sandwich bars with heirloom cookie recipes and house-made gelato and ice cream fillings. Or, select a make-your-own shortcake station with flaky shortcake biscuits, scented whipped creams and your choice of macerated berries, tropical fruit salad or rustic preserves.
2. Bottle service for the kids- rethink the club-style service with faux leather cocktail trays nestled with fun shaped acrylic glassware, custom labeled juice mixers and club soda and ginger ale in colored melamine pitchers. Top drinks with logoed straws and berry “ice cubes”.
3. Breakfast for dinner? Create a fun filled French toast station with live action grillers, fun fillings- nutella, berries, fluff, bananas, caramel, etc. and top with powdered sugar and whipped cream- small plate style.

We know that any or all of these delicious treats would make any party even yummier! As I continued to research everything I could find that was party food related, I also discovered that people are emphasizing local & organic food for their events, as well as serving more familiar foods as opposed to the once popular more exotic menus. Now, people are choosing for delicious simplicity and becoming even more aware of where the food came from! As Katie Robbins of Delish.com wrote, “‘simplicity,’ ‘farm-raised,’ and ‘artisan’ were big buzzwords” when talking about the food trends of 2011.
Yum yum yum! I don’t know about you, but all this talk about foods has made me hungry. I know I definitely need to find an excuse to throw a summer bash so I can incorporate all of these fabulous trends! (and I hope you do too!)
