Delicious French-Inspired Photo Shoot with Stephen Starr Events

When the ever fabulous Leila Miller of Stephen Starr Events approached us about collaborating with her on a photo shoot at Cairnwood Mansion, we did not just say yes, we jumped up and down and fist-pumped while shouting “Yeah!!!” We are always delighted to collaborate with such amazing partners, but the thing that really hooked me about this opportunity was the inspiration for the day: French macaroons, my absolute favorite cookie ever. How could I resist? So, inspiration in mouth hand, I ran to my desk! (Ok so I was already at my desk) and started designing an event look that would take cues from 18th century France, feel at home in the Music Room at Cairnwood and compliment the contemporary aesthetic of the Stephen Starr brand. When deciding how to achieve this, I thought of the movie Marie Antoinette, (Fab film! Put it on your Netflix queue!) which is a great example of a historical story that is told with contemporary visuals.  So, following Sofia Coppola’s lead we juxtaposed classic elements such as traditional urns and delicately embroidered linens against very modern elements such as big blocks of color and a square table.  The end result? A classic-but-also-modern, super sweet, fluffy, fabulous, sunshine-y event environment! I loved it so much I wish you all had been there.  Don’t worry though!  You’re in for a real treat because these deliciously sweet photos by Marie Labbancz are totally going to give you a buzz.

But first, because I love you guys, check out our initial inspiration board and sketch.

And on to the eye candy!

The stationery items were created by the thoroughly amazing Ashley Macri and Robyn Platoni of Chick Invitations.  Their work is just exquisite. Thanks, girls!

Our very own, event planner extraordinaire, Sara Fernandez put together this fabulous welcome basket for the shoot.  A carefully-styled gift like this is just the thing to welcome your out-of-town guests and put them in the mood to party as soon as they arrive!  This one is packed with treats like gourmet cookies, candles, soaps and a couple of fizzy French sodas.  Wait, I want one. Where’s  mine?

Our talented friends at Starr also brought along a boatload of different cheeses which tasted looked great!

And last but not least my favorite cookies! After the shoot I ate way more than my share of the lemon ones!

Phew! What a great shoot.  Thank you so much to all the talented vendors involved!
