Beautiful Blooms gets their flowers for the Boutique and also our events from all around the world but whenever we can, we love to buy locally grown flowers to support the local growers. This being said, many times we shop several different suppliers in Pennsylvania and New York too.
I was in the New York flower market yesterday and wanted to share with you some of the flowers that are currently available. The offerings change so frequently and are different from every vendor we work with but here is what NYC had available yesterday. Love those huge dutch hot pink and light pink hydrangea, love the nigella, the chamomille daisies and the wonderful luxurious coxcomb.

When you walk into the market all of your senses go wild….you see all these amazing flowers and my heart starts beating a little faster. You walk up to the flowers and smell their amazing scents. My mind starts creating ideas in my head. If I mixed this with this and I don’t even remember that it is only 6am. The energy flows for me like some people get from coffee.
Look at the green and plum artichokes on the stem, the bunches of jasmine, the lemons on the stem and the scented geranium foliage. So many greens to choose from to add punch to an arrangement or bouquet.

Look at how amazing these long stem gloriosa lilies are in yellow and orange. A single stem in a vase or several hanging from a tall arrangement. The perfect pop of color.

There is always a rainbow of roses too from all around the world. Look at them all packed neatly but get them back to the studio and they start to pop open. Then a few days later they are wide open and more beautiful than you could ever imagine.

Love these dahlias too! So many sizes and shapes and so luxurious.

Sometimes I get up in the morning and say to myself why did I get up this early to go see the flowers. Well once I arrive in NYC the energy and the beauty of the flowers reminds me of why I love this industry so much and why I have the passion. This isn’t just a job it is a true love of what we all do and I know my team feels the same way.
I had so much fun playing with you yesterday at the flower market!!! Can’t wait to go again.
Even if you make me get up at o-dark-thirty to get there!
Are there any flower markets that sell to the general public? Can you tell me which ones?
Hi Jenny,
I wish I could help you with this one but not that I know of.
